New Jersey's public-magnet bench is one of the deepest in the country: Bergen County Academies, High Technology High School (Lincroft), and Edison Academy Magnet are state-level science powerhouses. Princeton High School, the West Windsor-Plainsboro pair, Millburn, and Edgemont round out the strong public AP Bio cluster. Lawrenceville School is the boarding-school anchor. Bergen County Academies and HTHS run college-pace AP Biology and rank among the top USABO Semifinalist producers in the country. The pace is fast and the FRQ rubric is the hardest skill — that is the gap our 1:1 sessions close. For Princeton-area and Lawrenceville students the pace is similar; the AP-5 + USABO Semifinal target is the same.

FRQ is 50% of the AP Biology score, but most students over-prepare for multiple choice. Our coaching drills the College Board's specific 4-point rubrics unit-by-unit — the difference between a 4 and a 5.

The USABO Open exam runs in early February through your high school. Many of our strongest New Jersey students sit both AP Biology and USABO. We run an integrated track — Campbell + Alberts + Lehninger by February for USABO depth, then AP rubric drilling for the May exam. Same student, one curriculum, both targets.

A 5 in AP Biology is a strong baseline signal of biology readiness for pre-med applicants — but it does not satisfy medical school prerequisites. Most US medical schools require college-level biology (taken during your undergraduate years) regardless of AP credit. AP Biology is the foundation, not the substitute.
For BS/MD pipelines (Brown PLME, Northwestern HPME, Baylor 8-Year, NYU Honors / Stony Brook scholars track), AP-5 plus USABO Semifinalist standing reads as serious biology depth. AP-5 alone is rarely differentiating in those competitive applicant pools — the second credential matters. We coach both as a single integrated track.
