A mentor who can actually answer the biology question

What is missing from every mentorship programme we looked at

We went through the mentorship offerings of six national platforms before writing this one. They are more alike than their pricing suggests. Each assigns a mentor, most often a current MBBS student or a recent topper. Each writes a study plan, reviews mock tests, calls the parents monthly and bundles some recorded content. And each one draws the same line: the mentor is not there to teach.

That line exists because those mentors are generalists. A topper who cleared NEET two years ago can tell a student to revise genetics. They cannot sit with a student’s wrong answers and see that the genetics loss is really a plant-reproduction gap, that the student has never properly understood double fertilisation, and that no amount of revising genetics will fix it.

We teach one subject. That is the whole reason this programme can be built the way it is.

What the year looks like

1. Week one

   Entry diagnostic

   A chapter-level assessment across all 38 NCERT biology chapters, plus a call with the parents. We find out where biology actually is, not where the report card says it is.

2. Week two

   The written roadmap

   A twelve-month plan on paper, broken into a weekly plan and a daily task list. It names which chapters get rebuilt first and why.

3. Every alternate week

   The 1:1 Zoom session

   Twenty-six across the year. Half of it is teaching — the chapters that came back wrong. Half is the plan for the fortnight ahead.

4. Any day, any time

   The calls in between

   No cap on how many, no cap on how long, no per-session billing. If a student is stuck on a Tuesday night, that is what the line is for.

5. After every major mock

   Test analysis

   Losses split into concept gaps, silly slips and time losses, because the fix for each is different. The error log carries forward all year.

6. Every quarter

   Re-diagnosis

   The same chapter-level assessment, run again. Progress is measured against the entry paper, not against a feeling.

7. Every month

   The parent report

   A written report in plain language and a call with the mentor. You should never have to ask how it is going.

8. Final quarter

   Exam-day protocol

   Attempt strategy, section order, time discipline and the stress work — rehearsed in advance rather than improvised on the morning.

What this programme is not

• We do not promise a rank. Nobody can, and a programme that does is selling you the wrong thing.
• We do not mentor physics or chemistry. We teach biology, and we will say plainly when a problem is not ours.
• We do not put a first-year MBBS student on your child. Every mentor here teaches biology for a living.
• We do not bill per call. If a student needs four calls in a week, they take four calls.

Questions families ask us

How often is the Zoom call, and can we call in between?

There is a scheduled one-to-one Zoom session every alternate week, which works out to 26 sessions across the year. In between, you call whenever you need to. There is no cap on how many calls you make and no cap on how long they run. We do not bill per call, and we do not ask you to buy a session pack.

How is this different from the mentorship programmes run by the big coaching platforms?

Those mentors do not teach. The largest of them says on its own page that the programme is not for solving subject questions or deep academic doubts, so the mentor plans your week and motivates you and then sends the actual biology problem somewhere else. Our mentor is a biology teacher. If your child does not understand the light reaction, that gets solved in the session.

Who will actually be my child’s mentor?

On Ascent, a senior Cerebrum biology faculty member, assigned by name and unchanged for the year. On Pinnacle plus SGP, Dr. Shekhar C Singh, AIIMS Delhi, personally. We do not staff mentorship with first-year MBBS students.

What does the mentorship cost, and is the course fee included?

Ascent Mentorship is ₹1,50,000 for twelve months, and that figure is in addition to the course fee, not instead of it. Mentorship layers on top of the batch your child is already in — that shared syllabus and test calendar is exactly what lets the mentor diagnose at chapter level. Course fees themselves run from ₹53,100 to ₹1,84,080 a year including GST, depending on class and tier, and are listed on our pricing page. Pinnacle plus SGP is quoted individually because the seat count is very small. There are no per-call charges in either programme.

Can we take mentorship on its own, without joining a course?

No. Mentorship is an add-on to a Cerebrum course, not a standalone product. The mentor works against the batch your child is already in, so the syllabus, the weekly tests and the calendar are shared. Strip that away and the mentor is left guessing, which is precisely the weakness we built this programme to avoid.

Is this only for NEET, or does it cover olympiads too?

Ascent is built around NEET biology and school biology. The olympiad track — NSEB, INBO and IBO — runs inside Pinnacle plus SGP, alongside NEET rather than instead of it.

Is it online or offline?

Mentorship itself is online, by Zoom and phone, so it works anywhere in India and abroad. Pinnacle plus SGP students also get offline access at our South Extension, Rohini or Gurugram centre.

We are outside India. Can we join, and what does it cost in dollars?

Yes. Mentorship is delivered online, so it works from anywhere, and we run it for families across the Gulf, Singapore, the UK, the US, Canada and Australia. Ascent Mentorship is ₹1,50,000 a year, which is roughly USD 1,765 at current display rates, charged in addition to the course fee. The invoice itself is raised in Indian rupees; international cards and bank transfers both work. Sessions are scheduled against your local clock, not ours.

Our child does IB, AP or A-Level, not NEET. Does mentorship still apply?

Yes, and the mentor is matched to the curriculum. An IB student works with a mentor who teaches IB Biology and knows what an Internal Assessment moderator is looking for; an AP student works with someone who has taught the College Board framework. The programme is biology mentorship, not NEET mentorship — the exam at the end changes, the subject does not.

Can we join partway through the year?

Yes. The entry diagnostic is the first thing we run, and the roadmap is written from where the student actually is. Joining in October produces a different plan from joining in April, not a compressed version of the same one.

Do you guarantee a rank?

No, and you should be careful with anyone who does. What we commit to is the work: the sessions happen, the diagnosis is honest, the plan gets rebuilt when it slips, and you always know where your child stands.
