The Chinese National Biology Olympiad is organized by the Chinese Association for Science and Technology. It is one of the most competitive biology olympiads in the world, selecting the top 4 students to represent China at the International Biology Olympiad (IBO), where China consistently wins gold medals.
CNBO is open to high school students in China. Students typically progress through provincial rounds before qualifying for the national competition. The competition is known for its extremely high standards and rigorous selection process.
CNBO consists of provincial rounds followed by the national competition which includes both theory and practical examinations. The difficulty level is among the highest globally, requiring deep conceptual understanding and practical laboratory skills.
