INBO (Indian National Biology Olympiad) is India's pathway to the International Biology Olympiad. It starts with NSEB (National Standard Examination in Biology) conducted by IAPT, followed by INBiO (Indian National Biology Olympiad) at HBCSE, and culminates in OCSC (Orientation Cum Selection Camp) for IBO team selection.
Students in Class 11 or Class 12 (or equivalent) in India are eligible for NSEB. Students must be Indian citizens and below 20 years of age as of July 1st of the IBO year. Registration is done through schools.
NSEB covers NCERT Biology plus additional topics. INBiO covers advanced university-level biology based on Campbell Biology textbook, including Cell Biology, Genetics, Plant Biology, Animal Physiology, Ecology, Evolution, and Biosystematics.
For students with strong Class 11-12 Biology foundations, 4-6 months of dedicated preparation is recommended for NSEB. For INBiO and OCSC, additional 4-6 months of intensive Campbell Biology study is typically needed.
