INBO is the second round of the Indian pathway, sat by the students who clear NSEB. It is a genuine step up: the questions assume you have read beyond NCERT, and the marks are in reasoning rather than recall. This is the round where Campbell stops being enough on its own.

Weightings are the indicative proportions of the theory paper. Read them as where to spend your time, not as a promise about one year’s questions.

HBCSE does not publish a fixed INBO syllabus. The paper is set against the IBO subject areas, at a depth between a strong school course and first-year university biology. The weightings above describe the IBO’s published proportions and are the sane thing to plan around.
Campbell is assumed knowledge by this round, not the goal. If you are still learning from it, you are behind the students you are competing against.
Go deep on the two heaviest sections first: animal physiology and genetics. Together they are roughly 45% of the theory paper.
Work INBO and IBO past papers rather than more textbook chapters. At this level the constraint is applying what you know under pressure.
Plants and biosystematics are the classic INBO regrets. They are a small share of the paper and almost nobody prepares them, which makes them cheap marks.
Remember what you are aiming at: about 35 students advance to OCSC, and four students eventually represent India at IBO.
