The National Medical Commission’s Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations, 2021 require Indian students to qualify NEET-UG before joining a medical course abroad. Without a qualifying score you cannot sit the FMGE or register as a doctor in India, however good your foreign degree is. The Supreme Court has upheld the rule. You only need to qualify; in NEET 2025 that meant:
| Category | Percentile | Qualifying mark (of 720) |
|---|---|---|
| General / EWS | 50th | 144 |
| OBC, SC, ST | 40th | 113 |
The mark is set by percentile after each exam and moves every year.
